What does public health have to do with the overdose crisis?

The substance use and overdose crisis poses a tremendous threat to public health.  Over the years it has become clear that those that have substance use disorder (SUD) have a higher prevalence of chronic disease, infectious disease, and severe mental illness.  In some cases, it can be up to 30% more prevalent in those with opioid use disorder or substance use disorder.

Overdose Education & Naloxone Distribution

GCHD offers opioid education and a naloxone training/distribution program.  We have formed a team that has lived experience with opioids to ensure that the education program is community-centered.  If you or  your organization is interested in participating in or receiving opioid education or are interested in Naloxone, please feel free to reach out to us at (217) 942-6961 Option 6 or email us at RSS@greenecountyhd.org
